REVIEW – Stedemon Knife Company SHY IV Tanto

Video Review of the Stedemon Knife Company SHY IV Folding Tanto. (Modified Tanto).

**CORRECTIONS : The knife I reviewed here is NOT Carbon Fiber scales but G10. I had ordered the Carbon Fiber, and as I was handling the SHY IV I kept saying to myself it sure looks like G10 but at the time the box didn’t have any markings and I had thought that only ones that come in that color combination were CF. Also, seeing that it’s G10, the PRICE is $149, and NOT $192 as stated in this video.

Vince Fernandez says:

You had to BORROW a dollar for the size comparison?!

Michael Bonade says:

i like….i like it a lot……don’t like the orange with the black…..but i would buy it for the blade and overall shape for sure

Greg says:

got mine for 165 nib. CF is questionable, but for 165 WTF. The reason I am buying this is cause I bought zkc B02 blade hq exclusive. with anodized blue liner, hardware, and cts-204p and a blade as pretty as the blade on my Reate m390 future (with blue mokuti). BHQ ZKC B02 is the best $250 ($400 retail) knife I have ever bought in my $40+ years of collecting. As a young man I made American steel and I pains me to buy any Chinese product, but liong mah, Reate and Stedomon are incredible examples of the best China has to offer.

Annick Helbig says:

For sale?

James Y says:

Great review! I was actually thinking about getting this exact knife until I saw your review. Yes, it’s a beautiful knife and I would have made this my EDC but the shoddy detent with this price is a deal breaker.

James McIntyre says:

I like that Stedmon knife it’s definitely pretty awesome the only thing I could see right off the bat that I don’t like is it’s tip up only and it’s a bit pricey

TheIrcbully says:

Ok joe we want to know if you would have sex with Monica Lewinsky at this point ??

Steed Andersen says:

Reminds me of the Rubicon in style.

Nathan Chang says:

I bought one. The Jade G10.
The blade itself is really nice.. feels solid. But the handle is lacking. The weight is of the knife is front heavy and having the same problems with the detent.

Does anyone have experience with the Aluminum or Ti variants.

pinkshortsman says:

Are you sure this is the carbon fiber version??? It looks like plain black g10 to me, I have seen other videos of the carbon fiber one and it looks a lot different to me, I would love a reply because I think I am going to buy one

JJ 4Ti says:

I agree with your observations that knife is not worth $190. Definitely sub $100

TheIrcbully says:

Thumbs up button hit

bubu mic says:

Ok but how many centimeters does it have ??

MrGeerbear says:

Kind of leery of buying a knife whose logo is STD. I guess it beats ebola. That detent is bad. I sent back a Buck 830 for that to supremesolution on eBay and they said that was normal. I won’t buy from them again after spending over $500 on their site. They made me pay a restocking fee and the detent was way worse than that.

Riley Woodall says:

I own a stedemon shy IV and after a couple of weeks of ownership I absolutely regret spending the money on this knife. The detend is loose just like you said and the lock up is completely shot. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this knife.

Scott G says:

Maybe I am missing something, but I would not go $50 on this one, and that may be pushing it.

I really like the look if this coloration,I find it odd though that the orange clip doesn’t match the rest of the orange accents on the rest of the knife.

Neil Spector says:

Could you please tell me the name of that blade shape I love the look of it.

Steve Kushman says:

Too bad about the detent Joe. The orange on black colors were calling your name.

Kevin cleary says:

Hey Joe, do you know if all of these have poor detent or just your example?

Annick Helbig says:

Just snug the pivot screw so you can’t flick the blade out, Joe.

Shiny Knife says:

Looks like a power tool accessory too me.. And I’m not a huge fan of Tantos but I like that it’s shiny hehe

Michael Daury says:

Nice straightforward good price no titanium bulshit

Lone Rogue says:

Thanks for posting the full stats including the “Made In”. Often times that’s not easy to find on products.

PkwyDrive13 says:

Looks sweet, the scales don’t look like carbon fiber on video. Just looks like black g10

Dubglock23 says:

really awesome knife Joe!!!!

Peach Jackson says:

Thanks for the vid but I have to agree with another commenter and say that is definitely not carbon fiber
