Steve Brettell says:

Someone told me that when you baton with a folder, to not lock the blade, and it will minimize damage to the hinge. I haven’t tried it. I use an axe to split wood. Just passing on the suggestion.

2-1 BrAvO says:

This is an excellent knife. The ergonomics, jimping, and thumb ramp are spot on. Has a bushing pivot system, and AUS 8. Probably the best no nonsense knife under $50.00, in my opinion.

That’s one heck of a blade, it ate the wood up. I like your folding knife videos it’s a good change from Fixed Blade Survival Knives. You should check out the Kershaw Skyline.

silkmaze says:

I watched this video a couple of weeks ago and decided to go with the Rat 1. Great knife. Thanks.

Saw a video earlier that said if you absolutely have to baton using a liner lock knife, you should actually do it with the lock disengaged and just pull down on the handle trying to equalize pressure on both sides while doing it. It’ll prevent the lock from being damaged.

sliderulelover says:

Well done ! You showed essential uses for the RAT-1 in a bushcraft sense. showing batonning, feather sticking, and demonstrated that the knife blade was stable after use. I have the RAT-1 in coyote brown, and have used it to feather stick and to cut lots of cardboard. I’m impressed with how it keeps it edge. Haven’t had to sharpen it yet.

Jarhead6 says:

nice and it is on the list!

78_ DRE says:
