The chef’s knife’s blade length is 8.5” with a height of 2” at its widest section. It has a 4.75” handle which comes in 5 color choices: blue, green, gray, black, and red. The balance of the knife is dead center between the blade and handle and the weight overall is just over 6 oz. On the right side of the blade the steel grade VG-10 is printed next to the logo. The hardness rating for this steel is 62 HRC and the blade has a 17 degree sharpening angle more typical of Japanese blades than American ones.

On the sides of the blade are a laser etched design called a Damascus pattern. The etching is identical on both sides, though isn’t very deep and may wear off over time. Its wavy wood grain-like pattern matches the Pakkawood handle. This partial bolster knife allows you to sharpen it along its entire length. However, you won’t have a heel for heavy chopping making this knife unsuited for cutting through bone and hard shelled produce like squash. However, the knife is adept at making thin, delicate slices, chopping, and mining.

Out of the box, the blade is very sharp and slices through paper like butter. The cuts are clean along the entire length and requires little force to cut. For cooking, this makes food prep for vegetables and boneless meat fast and effortless. This steel grade has high corrosion resistance, so it won’t rust and the blade should hold its edge pretty well, which means less time sharpening and more time cooking. Overall, it’s a very handsome chef’s knife that’s nicely constructed, durable, and performs well in the kitchen.
