Victorinox Pioneer vs Soldier Swiss Army Knife Comparison + Review by MrSharp: best multi-tool knife review. The Pioneer was introduced in 1957. The Pioneer was used as the basis for the soldier design in 1961. The pioneer is the ‘civilian’ version. The soldier is in use since 1962 and was in use until 2008, when the new model came out…The Pioneer is still in production and is a very popular model.
The Pioneer almost always comes with the Keyring
– The logo on the scales is the Victorinox, not the Swiss shield
– It does not have the year of production stamped on the main blade
– On the opposite scale to the scale with the logo it has a small flat area available for engraving.
The handle scales are made of anodized aluminium. The alox scales provide an excellent grip. The handle does provide a full four finger grip, it lays well in the hand. Although, The keyring can be a hotspot when you are carving for example
The Weight comes in at 70.1 grams/
Both models have a reasonable size and weight and they come with some of the most useful tools. This exactly why these knives are still very popular, since 1957 until now!
This is a full flat ground with spearpoint tip- type of blade with a secondary bevel
Obviously the blade features a mirror polish. These blades have slip-joints, which means that they come with a non- locking blade
There are two screwdrivers, a can opener, a bottle opener and at the opposite side of the main blade is an inline- awl/ reamer.when you hold it like this, you have more control
They are both perfect EDC knives, since they are non-locking knives and blades under 3 inches, it’s supposed to be legal in the most countries
Did you see the NEW Spartan?
Or the Black SwissTool?!
